Gearbox Rebuild

In many cases pressing new bearings onto the ends of the shafts may be all that is required. Obviously if teeth are damaged these cogs need to be replaced. This is by no means an easy job, don't expect to get it right on your first time. The thin spacers at the ends of the new bearings inside the housing need to be reset to match the new bearings. Once the gearbox is bolted and glued back together, you can then tell by spinning the rear shaft if the tension is good. Only experience will teach you the right tension.
